Another marvellous sewing book

Most of the time I think the ‘people who bought this also bought…’ feature on Amazon is a menace, but it did alert me to the fact that a fantastic Japanese pattern drafting book called Pattern Magic by Tomoko Nakamichi has been translated into English. It’s full of magnificent and mind-boggling sculptural fashion that’s imaginative but very wearable – and it shows you how to make it all!

All the bow and knot dresses are quite amazing.

And there’s also some stunning examples that would actually be quite simple to make, like the ‘bamboo shoot’.

And there’s also a Pattern Magic 2 where the designer has done extraordinary things with sleeves. Wow!

I found this book the same way you did. Good to know someone shared the same surprise!. Even though I study landscape architecture it also gave me a lot inspirations. The book is just awesome.
