Once upon a time…

…there was a little girl and all she did was read! So many memories are caught up in the books we have when we’re very small. I picked up this hardcover for an absolute song this week and as well as the likes of Norman Lindsay and his Magic Pudding and May Gibbs’ gumnut babies (featured on the cover) there’s so much beautiful illustration in this history of Australian children’s books.

This book was a moralistic little tome about eating your vegetables. Too cute!

And this one’s from an ABC book called The Little Grammar People. As a writer I feel for these Hs in distress!

This one’s a funny story about some kangaroos who got dressed up and went to town, where they were mistaken for bank robbers!
