When in Melbourne…

…have great adventures! That was my motto for last weekend’s trip away with Mr A for his interstate art exhibition.

Melbourne was in the middle of a ‘proper’ winter (unlike Brisbane winters) so I had to be properly equipped – hence the need for this lovely woollen scarf from Little Salon in Fitzroy.

As well as catching up with friends, we managed to pack quite a bit of op-shopping into this trip. When I was fossicking around Collingwood, I came across this very interesting contraption in a shop on Smith Street – from some text on the side, it seemed to be some sort of ice-crushing machine but I’m only guessing. I just loved the swan motif and the clash of red and turquoise!

We discovered this fabulous (if a little dusty) black lady lamp in a cluttered window on Chapel Street at Prahran. It was definitely in working order because we wandered past it glowing in the window a few times, but the shop was never open when we were around so I never did find out if it was a bargain or not.

As well as all the window-shopping, I came away with a stack of very cheap vintage patterns from various places, but I might save those for Saturday Special over coming weeks. Hooray for weekends away!
