Scandinavian Festival adventures

This morning Mr A and I gathered a posse of fellow Scandi-lovers and headed off to the Scandinavian Festival at the Danish Club at Newstead. Until about three weeks ago, I didn’t even know there was a Danish Club of Brisbane, let alone a Scandinavian Festival, which apparently happens every year! Right on cue, some dancers in traditional costume started just as we got there. I loved the ladies’ handmade linen outfits.

Before we had to retreat from the midday sun and find a beverage in the cool confines of the Danish Club, we indulged in a few sweet treats at the stalls outside… and I lingered at the Swedish Goodies stall long enough to pick up this cute Ingela Arrhenius toucan cup and lion plate, both by Omm Design. I’ve only recently discovered her work through an artist friend of mine Carmela who is married to a Swede and I think I love everything she does!

The only thing missing from the festival was a cushion stall… Maybe next year?

Thanks for looking Sasha. The plate is going to a little man who’s just turned one – I’m sure he’ll love it!
