Happy families

Yesterday I was stuck indoors watching some pretty wild weather outside – torrential rain all day and some sporadic but unnerving wind gusts that made me question whether having so many large trees close to the house was really a good idea. And while I was safe and dry, I did wonder how our feathered friends were going – we’ve had a family of currawongs visit our fig tree every morning for the past couple of months to feast on the red berries. This photo of one of the adult birds was taken last week.

Happily, I heard them calling this morning, so while I’m sure they’ve been drenched it’s good to know they’re OK. As Brisbane prepares for flooding again today, I hope you and yours will be too.

Still keeping an eye out for a mother and baby bird yet to return to their nest in one of our trees. Hope they’re okay.

Yes, hope they’re safe and sound. Just saw our kookaburra family too – they seem to be loving it!
