Hair-brained ideas

I was very excited to find out that there was another Shape Shape book. Shape Shape 2 by Natsuno Hiraiwa has more lovely Japanese clothes that are pared back to their simplest shapes, with most made from just one main pattern piece.

I fell in love with this book as soon as I saw the cover in my local bookstore – that wraparound skirt is just divine. Its lovely hang is achieved purely from the shape of that one main pattern piece – it’s giving me all kinds of hair-brained ideas, like making a heavily embroidered wearable art piece. I wouldn’t mind a pair of those red shoes featured on the cover too!
