Scenes of a city

Local artist Robert Brownhall has just released a quite magnificent hardcover book, Australian Stories, which encompasses 20 years of his paintings – and it’s really rather special. He’s got a particular knack for painting Brisbane, such as this depiction of our annual show.

I especially love his sweeping cityscapes and street scenes that capture some of the quirks of our city – the book’s cover, which shows a house painter examining his handiwork while a butcher bird looks on from the front fence, is a great example of this. Put it on the wish list!

Love Robert Brownhall’s paintings. Have been hanging out waiting for his next exhibition coming up mid May at Philip Bacon. This book goes on my wish list too!
