A swallow for good luck

Since ancient times, swallows have been considered symbols of good luck, happiness and good fortune. I remember when I was growing up there were swallows nesting in a nook under the floorboards of my uncle’s house and I used to love watching them dart over the gate and into his garden, where I could usually be found watering the vegies after school.

Maybe it’s those happy memories – but this is still one of my favourite cushions. I’ve had a few enquiries about the swallow recently so hopefully I have enough of them at the markets!
