A stitch in time

Yesterday I took a stroll down to the Queensland Art Gallery to see the Ruth Stoneley quilts exhibition, A Stitch in Time. Stoneley was a leading Brisbane quiltmaker who was known for her Highgate Hill shop, Patchwork Supplies, and experimentation with traditional quilting designs to create stunning contemporary works.

I couldn’t take photos of my favourites, which were from her black quilts series, due to the low light, but here’s a picture of her take on the log cabin style. The exhibition is on until October 7.

I’ll be looking her up, I love that red and white combo, especially the differing shades of white!
