Going green inside

In my quest to do the right thing by the planet, Touch Wood Design is going green inside! I’m now using a new supplier for cushion inserts that are filled with fibre made from recycling plastic bottles – each 50cm x 50cm insert saves 30 bottles from going to landfill and that has to be good because there are way too many plastic bottles in our lives.

They form a really robust insert that’s got a lovely weight to it too – not quite feather pillow territory, but they feel nice and substantial. Here’s the first shipment… It was a Very Big Package to collect from the post office!

Yay! I didn’t come across those when searching for greener insert options, what a great idea. My glittery Christmas felt is made from recycled plastic bottles, they seem to be very versatile things!

Yay indeed. They’re from a company in Sydney, but hopefully the concept takes off and they’re available elsewhere as the stats around the number of plastic bottles that go into landfill are quite horrifying!

Huge package Eileen! That’s amazing the plastic gets turned into a fibre for cushions

Eileen, what size are those long cushions? I’ve been looking for 30cm x 50cm inserts for some covers I bought recently. Everywhere sells everything but!

Hi Nhi, the oblong ones are 55cm x 35cm so they’d probably make your cushions look nice and plump.
