Vintage fabric find: Abstract woodland barkcloth

I’m so excited about this fabric I had to take photos before I’d even had a chance to launder it! It’s a 1950s barkcloth with a lovely warm grey background and abstract woodland scenery with highlights in light turquoise, chartreuse and an orangey red. This picture shows almost the full width of the fabric.

On the left is a waterfall and river scene with a very large butterfly and forest bordering a lake and mountain.

On the right is another woodland area with deer and fish in a lake… and an owl atop a tree that I didn’t even notice until I saw this photo on screen!

Absolutely LOVE this print! The mark-making is great and I like how the Grey background sets off the vivid foreground imagery. Superb. Thank you for sharing!

My pleasure… Collecting pieces like this has become a bit of an addiction!

Where did you get this fabric? I have an old curtain in this fabric, except the background color is yellow. I have also seen it with a black background.

Hi Mark, I got it from a friend in the US. I like the sound of the other colourways.
