Saturday Special: Simplicity 7981

This 1969 dress has a few unusual features – such as no side seams in the bodice and and some interesting shaping around the waistline. But what could I place on the waistline instead of that bow?! Maybe a large covered button?

Misses’ dress: The lined dress with back zipper and no side seams in bodice has front midriff and flared skirt stitched to bodice slightly above normal waistline in front. V1 with high round neckline and long set-in sleeves is button trimmed. Sleeveless V2 has low V neckline and self fabric bow.
