Family heirlooms

Recently I had a chance meeting with an old friend who was looking for someone to recreate a family heirloom to cater for some new additions and keep a longstanding Christmas tradition running. The original stocking pictured in the middle here is about 30 years old – it’s amazing how long felt can last if you look after it!

My task was to make matching stockings for the wife (who is obsessed with Liberty print) and daughter (who has a long-winded name that was never going to fit on a 20cm high stocking). Making the bow and bell feature was a bit tricky too. In the end I was really happy with the result, which highlights the Liberty fabric and gives the ladies their own special version in keeping with the origial.
