Saturday Special: Vogue 6345

There’s something elegant about the simplicity of this 1964 suit ensemble from Vogue. I’m not much for wearing suits, but I’d wear this one!

Suit and blouse: Shaped, cutaway jacket has single button closing below notched collar. Below elbow length sleeves. Slightly shaped sleeveless overblouse with scooped neckline, just covers waistline of A-line skirt.

Saturday Special: Vogue 5929

A gorgeous Mad Men-style dress from 1963. I love every version, but I’d probably be most likely to make View B – with top-stitching over those diagonal front seams to draw attention to the beautiful cut of this frock.

One-piece dress: Sheath dress has optional pocket from diagonal front seams. Oval neckline with zipper back closing. Elbow length bell-shaped sleeves, short sleeves and sleeveless.

Saturday Special: Vogue 5915

I love the seamlines that provide delicate shaping on this 1960s shift dress. The back-buttoned belt version would also look lovely! Very Jackie O!

One-piece dress and scarf: Slim dress with front detailing has optional back buttoned belt. Zipper back closing below oval neckline. Elbow length sleeves and sleeveless. Circular, bias scarf.

You’ve got to love a quick and easy skirt! Interestingly, I think I recently saw a Witchery denim skirt made in this style, which featured in the Vogue pattern book back in 1963!

Skirt: Wrapped skirt has left side button through or fly front closing. Optional welt pocket.

Saturday Special: Weigel’s 2488

Another 1960s Weigel’s frock for the straight-up-and-down figure, with shaping courtesy of some very long front darts and some judiciously placed back darts. I do love the front fold details over the bust. Very fancy!

Saturday Special: Weigel’s 2583

Another 1960s number from Australian patternmaking dynasty Weigel’s, this time built around the empire line. As my Mum would say, very flattering for skinnymalinks! This one would look quite cute in a spotty cotton fabric.

Saturday Special: Weigel’s 2216

Hello 2016! Hope you all had a great holiday break! I’m going to ease back into the blog world with a series of Saturday Special posts… Enjoy!

What a stunning 1960s frock! All those panels in the skirt would be worth sewing because it hangs beautifully. Now all I need is a ball to attend!

Saturday Special: Weigel’s 2297

This circa 1960s sheath dress is very sophisticated – I love the tucks that create that exquisite detail over the bust and the neckline woud be very flattering too.

Saturday Special: Weigel’s 2361

There’s something very matronly about this 1960s wiggle dress… I think it must be the models’ hair! Lovely detailing over the bust though.

Dress with draped skirt.

Saturday Special: Weigel’s 2365

How fabulous is this circa 1960s dress? I think it would be a showstopper in deep red or sapphire blue!

Dress with draped bodice in three styles.
