Let’s go to the beach
Summer is well and truly here in Australia so decorators’ (and, I suspect, Christmas gift-givers’) thoughts are turning to surf, sand… and lovely Hawaiian ladies! These cushions went to their new home yesterday and already I’ve had an order for another pair. Looks like the sewing machine is going to run hot over the next couple of weeks!
And here’s the matching cushion.
Oh to be beside the seaside
There’s been a bit of a rush on my cushions at AbFab lately and I’d run out of some of the vintage fringing I like to use, so my day off yesterday was very timely. Mr A and I had a lovely trip to the bayside where I visited a musty old store that’s full of some great deadstock from decades past. It was an absolutely gorgeous day for a trip to the seaside – here’s Mr A walking along the boardwalk to the shelter where we had chips and ginger beer. I love how the trees have grown at an angle from years of stiff seabreezes.
This was the view out to sea from our lunch spot. The specks on the horizon are two very large ships.
And the best thing about going to the beach on a Monday? We only had to share with about a dozen seagulls and a beachcomber who passed through briefly. Bliss!
Hawaiian is the new black
I’m excited because I’ve received a package in the mail with this fun Hawaiian girls fabric! It’s the black colourway of the fabric I made into these cushions. One hot afternoon drive to my out-of-town getaway for vintage trims and I’m now ready to get sewing. Look out soon for black Hawaiian girls cushions with startlingly orange fringe!
